Tips to preserve a limited edition book for the highest value in the future?
I got a brand new book for Christmas. Its a limited edition pre-publication copy which was signed by the author. I also know that the author sold the rights to the book to be made into a movie.
I would appreciate any tips on how to best preserve the book so it will keep the highest value in future.
Would the book devalue if i covered it in contact plastic?

Do indeed wrap it in a non-acidic mylan cover, without bending or creasing the jacket or breaking the spine of the book. Keep it out of direct sunlight, in an enclosed space to prevent it being contaminated with dust, keep it out of the hands and house(!) of any smoker or somewhere wearing perfume. (Oh, and read the library's copy.)
If you want to go the whole hog, you can also pay to have it placed in an air-tight sleeve with inert gases to prevent foxing and other forms of deterioration.
CHeck places like www.bookfinder.com, www.abebooks.com, etc to keep a running estimate of its value. It may not be what you think, especially if it's an ARC.
